This newsletter contains details of changes that have been made to the Computing Homework site over the past term.
We have updated a number of the exercises and programs supporting Scratch programming. All the programs related to the exercises will work with Scratch 3.
The exercises that have been updated are listed below:
Exercise Number and Title
3. Constants and Variables
6. Repetition - 1
7. Repetition - 2
8. X,Y Coordinates
9. Collision Detection
10. Message Passing
11. Using Lists
Three types of changes have been made to the exercises themselves:
1. We have made some minor textual changes to some of the exercises.
2. The animation supporting exercise 8, X,Y Coordinates, has been replaced by a link to a Scratch program on the Scratch site. This will enable students to run the program directly, and to modify it easily.
3. Finally, image tables have been replaced with CSS tables. This change will enable the exercises to be scaled up without the images becoming blurred.
We are working on developing exercises to support the teaching of 'simple Boolean logic and some of its uses in circuits and programming'.
These new exercises will be released towards the end of the summer term.
